It started in a cramped third-floor apartment, with a hoodie that fell apart after one winter.

Our founder, Theo, had saved up for what was supposed to be the hoodie — the one with the famous logo, the one everyone on his feed was wearing. Three months later the cuffs had stretched out, the color had faded to a sad gray, and the hood hung flat against his neck like a wet towel. He'd paid a small fortune to look exactly like everyone else, and the thing hadn't even lasted.

That was the moment. Theo started pulling apart the hoodies he owned — the cheap ones that died in a wash, the expensive ones that weren't actually built any better, just branded louder. He learned what GSM meant. He learned why a double-layer hood holds its shape and a single-layer one collapses. He learned that most of what's sold to young people is designed to be replaced, not kept.

So he made one hoodie. The right way. 400gsm brushed fleece, a hood that stood up on its own, drawcords that wouldn't fray. He wore it everywhere, and people kept asking where it was from. The answer — "I made it" — turned into a few more pieces, then a small drop sold out of that same apartment, then OFFGRID.

The name is the whole point. The grid is the default — the fast-fashion cycle that wants you in the same five things as everyone else, replaced every season. To go offgrid is to step out of that. To wear pieces with weight, with intention, that last long enough to actually become yours.

Weight over hype. A piece should feel like something in your hands. We spec heavyweight cotton and real construction before we think about a logo. If it won't survive two years of wear, it doesn't ship.

Priced for the streets, not the runway. We're independent on purpose. That means no designer markup and no fast-fashion corner-cutting — just honest pieces at a price a first paycheck can handle.
